Sustainability in the Post-Moore Era: Challenges and Opportunities
TU Wien - Sustainability in Computer Science lecture series 11 January 2027
I will give a public lecture on the sustainability challenges arising from the continued growth of computing beyond the traditional Moore’s Law scaling regime.
The lecture will examine the energy and environmental costs of modern computing, with particular attention to high-performance computing and quantum computing. It will discuss the opportunities and limitations of emerging computing paradigms, and consider what “sustainable computing” might mean when computational demand continues to increase.
